SYNOPSIS
It's 1933 and Tulsa, Oklahoma seems to be faring much better than most towns around them. 18-year-old Bessie Harlow has her future planned out. The sheltered daughter of a prominent and wealthy judge, she has much to learn about life and what her dear cousin, Millie, calls "the real world."
Then she meets Zac Hanson, a 26-year-old former vaudeville star, whose variety act he performed with his brothers, Taylor and Isaac, fell victim to the Great Depression and the untimely fall of vaudeville. Losing their parents to illness and the family farm due to the depression, the brothers use their meager life savings to pay off the trailer that they travel with in order to hang on to what's left of their act that they so love. Now settled on the outskirts of Tulsa, taken in by a camp full of gypsies, the brothers survive on pennies and dreams.
Upon meeting Zac, naïve Bessie is immediately drawn to him and is innocently ignorant to the blatantly obvious: Bessie and Zac are two completely different people from two completely different worlds. Despite their differences, they fall for each other, and the pair begin what starts out as an innocent romance.
And then, one day, life crashes down on the duo and, quickly, decisions must be made. Zac has to leave town for good, but can he leave Bessie behind? And now knowing what it feels like to be in love, can young Bessie let Zac go?
